“Oh! Come on it’s already 5:30 PM we are getting late and we need to pick up my friends also they are waiting” My wife shouted. We rushed down to the basement got in the car and headed to pick her friends up. Within 1 hr we were on Kanakpura road. With every second passing by it was becoming darker and we were getting further away from the madding crowd of Bangalore . Some 15KM from the Kanakpura-outer ring road signal we took a right into a small dusty village road. It was pitch dark and the starlit sky was awesome. We reached the open field for parking, got our thing out and started walking towards the faint light and sound source. The music played was Jazz with a guitar, drum and violin. We entered the open amphitheater. It had a stage just under banyan tree and huge granite cut to make the sitting area abound it.
We had come to FireFiles. It was a crowd of over 4000 people in a small place away from the maddening crowd. All enjoying the night of music, till the day breaks.
We had already missed 3 shows by the time we reached. But the night had just started. The place was buzzing with people and the feel of festivity was in the air. Some of the shows were great. Like for the 1st time I heard Kabir ke dohe in a song (Rajesthani song). Lounge Piranha were too good and the one group that made the crowd to go... go... berserk was the Qawali group. (I also spotted my friend dancing with the Qawali guys.) The night passed with some mind blowing performances. Before we could know it was the last group. By the time we reached home it was already broad daylight.
Fireflies is organized every year in Feb and you can keep a track of it from this link. FireFlies (Indianstage/FireFlies)
The tickets are available at Indian Stage.
Advice:
Go there early to get good seats. Take plenty to eat. Sleep well the day before. And take the camera with you. ( I would have posted some pics ... )
The place is full of photo opportunities and fun loving people.
